Faith (Вера)

To the north, to the north, to the north’s heading

A nightly train from the slums to Moscow.

Conductor sleeps, sleep my drunk neighbors

I cannot sleep anymore.

Dimly lit up, the lights on the roadside

In the distance, the faint sound of a horn.

Out the window, getting lighter and colder

It will be a drizzling morn.

REFRAIN (2x):

Faith! You’re the only one I can turn to now.

Seems like happiness grows on foreign land

Like some sort of invasive plant.

They search for it far and near,

People, forever condemned.

REFRAIN (4x)

Riding and, in my soul, praying to God

Train creeps, like on thin ice, across earth.

If, on the road, I don’t lose my mind,

Tomorrow, I will go to church.
